COMMUNITY QUESTION: How much do remote accounting professionals make?
I was recently asked a great question by a reader about remote salaries for accounting professionals:
I’ve also been told that a lot of remote positions, pay less, as you said. But I have been at a lot of positions and am ready to settle down, and for that a higher salary will be needed.

So if I want to make closer to the six figure salary range I need to apply to tech companies in San Francisco?
“…I’ve also been told that a lot of remote positions, pay less, as you said…So if I want to make closer to the six figure salary range I need to apply to tech companies in San Francisco?”
Most tech companies will pay SF Bay Area wages regardless of where you’re located, because they can demand top talent and can afford it.
However, I’ve seen many companies make an excuse for paying lower salaries because they figure even offering remote work arrangements is a huge benefit.
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of transparency around remote accounting salaries online.
I personally know how frustrating it is to apply to a job that doesn’t provide a salary range up front, only to find out later on in the hiring process that it pays too low.
I hope to bring more transparency and awareness to remote accounting salaries - but it has to be a community effort.
I’m relaunching a salary database tool I created awhile ago. The way this works is once you submit your salary (anonymously), you get access to all the data. You give, you get.
Once I get enough data, I can provide average ranges by job title, but until now, you can look at the data points.
THE END
That’s it for this week’s roundup, thanks for reading.
Have questions/comments about any of the above? Want to say hey? Landed a remote job recently?
Just hit reply to any of my emails and it’ll come straight to me. It’d be great to hear from you.
Have a great week ✌️
